Forums - Modelling / Kits

The kits forum is for the discussion of model kits. Typically questions on availability or certain subjects and quality of existing kits are posted here. Short reviews are good here too.

"Interesting - Canada's A2E8's may have been ex-Soviet Lend-Lease tanks that were returned to the US after the war and then redistributed to our Cold War allies [as opposed to being dumped in the Pacific]."

Actually, these tanks had never left the US. After construction they went straight to depots and sat there until 300 (IIRC) were sold or transferred to the Canadians. These brand-new, never-used, "NOS" tanks were supposed to be carved up and cannibalized for spare and modification parts, but they cheated the torch. Another 229 were not so lucky.

Of the WW II tanks that left North America, very few of them ever came back. Virtually all of the tanks you see in the US today have never left.
