After a 30 year layoff from the model building hobby, I started it up again. I just finished building the 1/72 DML E-100 and I must say this kit is impressive ! I built it straight OOTB and assembling it was a dream. All the parts fit together perfectly. Most impressive was the precision of fit between upper deck surface to the lower hull.
No overhang, no warp, no gaps, heck it would have stayed together without glue. Secondly, the side skirts attached to the hull with great precision too. With just two guide pins on each skirt the mating surfaces were so good one can hardly see a seam. Thirdly, every vent hole was flash free, no matter how small. In fact, all the parts were flash free.
Are the other manufacturers this good too ?
If so, what are some other companies that are comparable ?
Is it because of new manufacturing technology ? ie.,CAD/CAM of the sprue molds ? |
