| Subject: | DML 88mm Flak 36 kit questions | |
| Date: | May 27, 2005 |
| From: | Curtis Jurrens | |
I picked up the new DML 88mm Flak 36 kit yesterday evening. WOW...what a kit! Dragon raises the bar again! My biggest problem with the kit is TOO MANY options! I think I want to do one of the Flak 36 barreled options, but I'm not sure which one!
A couple of questions:
1.) Has anyone verified the accuracy of the drawings of the markings provided? i.e., do all the options shown include all the features shown in the drawing: loading tray and automatic rammer, cable spools on the bogies, etc.?
2.) Looking through my German-language copy of "Die 8,8 Flak im Erdkampf-Einsatz" by J. Piekalkiewicz, I don't seem to see a any 88s with the laoding tray or automatic rammer fitted in combat. I last attempted German about 10 years ago, so I don't have nearly the necessary literacy to see what the story is on that. Can anyone enlighten me?
3.) I recall somewhere that one of the improvements of the sdh 202 trailer versus the earlier 201 of the Flak 18 was that the later version allowed for firing the gun without dropping it out of the cradles. Therefore, it should be possible to build the kit in a "firing" configuration, but show it installed in the bogies, correct? Quite a few pictures in the book seem to show that it was used that way.
Thank you all in advance,
Curtis |
