The Legends Kit is quite suitable for a Brit Sherman III as is right up until NW Europe. Many DV hulled, M3 Suspension fitted and early mantlet equipped vehicles were in use during the invasion of Sicily so I'd say that you are right on track using such a variant.
Find a copy of "Images of War - SHERMAN TANK" by Gavin Birch ISBN 1-84415-187-5 which has many good (and rarely seen) pics of Brit/C'wealth Shermans - and some US ones too.
The excellent Formations one with the welded hoods can be used and Pics of this configuration in service during the Sicilian campaign are avail.
Both Conversions are good and both are recommended as is the Historica/Ordnance M4A2 early conversion.
