Forums - Modelling / Kits

The kits forum is for the discussion of model kits. Typically questions on availability or certain subjects and quality of existing kits are posted here. Short reviews are good here too.

Subject:  Tristar Pz IVD a weld too far?List thread.

Dear Fellow modellers

I've noticed that on what appears to be a wonderful new PzIVD model from Tristar (see PMMS and AFV modeller) that they have a weld fillet where the oval gun assembly joins the mantlet. I've looked at several period photos of Pz IVDs but cannot see this weld. In contrast the armoured housing for the co-ax MG was welded to the mantlet. It looks like the main gun was tightly fitted into the mantlet, and was perhaps attached by bolts behind the mantlet?

What do you think?

Andrew
