Hello Andrew ,

The weld around the front angled back plate on the nose of the oval recuperator housing is proper . The large bolt heads do not hold the front plate on they are internally holding the gun itself . The front oval angled back plate is welded to the housing . This weld is not connected directly to the gun . Thegun slides into the housing .HTH
