I've compared these photos to the Tristar fenders, and the number of raised dots in each row on the kit fenders is not even close to the actual number shown in these photos. At best, the Tristar fenders merely represent the original article, rather than replicating them.

But that brings up a question I'd never considered before: are the treadplate patterns in other kits or aftermarket items EXACT reproductions of the originals, or do they merely represent the pattern without duplicating it? I compared these photos to fenders of a Tamiya Pzkw IV H Early and a DML Pzkw III G, and neither of the kits seems to have the correct number of raised impressions. So it may be that we have NEVER had truly accurate fender patterns.
