Mike,I worried about that part also,and made a best guess they were cleaning rods.One rod is slightly longer than the others and appears to have attachment points or threads simulated on either end.I reasoned this was for attatching sponges/reamers etc to one end and connecting the other end to the other rods.
I have a few pics of JSU 122/152 showing the roof of the vehicle and they do not seem to be painted as aiming stakes,as a mater of fact its hard to even spot the rods as stowed.
It's a good question,I hope the truth,as they say in the X Files, is out there.
