Forums - Modelling / Kits

The kits forum is for the discussion of model kits. Typically questions on availability or certain subjects and quality of existing kits are posted here. Short reviews are good here too.

I have been working on 3 versions of the Jagdtiger for about 2 years. I prefer the Aber sets (35041, 35A24, 35A41) and have also used the Royal Models 297. The Lion Roar (LE35016) may be cheaper than Voyager Model (35053) but they come with plastic/resin (cleaning rods, rod mounts, and tow wire (not this particular set) extras that would otherwise need to be fabricated or purchased. In the US, Royal Models is expensive due to import taxes and overall has little advantange over any other manufacturer. In the end, it may be a matter of availability and preference, rather than one set better than another.

One last note, if you acquire photoetch via internet suppliers (i.e., mail order) the Voyager sets ship better as they come in a 3-dimensional box rather than photoetch on cardboard, which can get bent in shipping.

my two cents...

John
