Forums - Modelling / Kits

The kits forum is for the discussion of model kits. Typically questions on availability or certain subjects and quality of existing kits are posted here. Short reviews are good here too.

Hello,
the tight fit is the problem. the rubber will loosen its softeners after a while and the rubber shrinks a little bit, the plastic does not shrink. so the rubber splits. you can prevent this by sanding down the rims a litte bit. another modeller has published the tip, to put the rubber tires into boiling water, what makes the softeners leave the tires and the rubber won´t change anymore. i do not know if it works but it sounds good.
on the other side, if the rubber contains to much softener, it can melt the plastic.
bye
frank
