That kit you have no.6004 is about 15 years old. Dragon have new mouldings of the Hummel now, no.6150 and no.6204.

Like all company's kits, they get better and better. Old Tamiya kits for example, and recent ones too, have similar problems as you describe.

About the time they released their Hetzer kits, I'd say the overall quality started to get pretty good.
