Forums - Modelling / Kits

The kits forum is for the discussion of model kits. Typically questions on availability or certain subjects and quality of existing kits are posted here. Short reviews are good here too.

I totally agree with Jerry.

The usability of Dragon's instructions compared to Tamiya's is not nearly as clear and well conceived/designed. I have only built 1 and half DML kits (E-100 and the new Late Tiger) but on a whole I feel like DML keeps you guessing and is general harder to comprehend. I even feel some of their drawings really make you work hard to understand what is going on. Tamiya's instructions are easily digestible, created in logical sequences and digestible chunks and the options and drawings are always clearly executed. In addition the Tamiya kits go together really well, in my opinion easier than DML (again I'm not the DML expert).

I do see DML as a more spirited, adventerous company, that is constantly keeping the genre fresh. I really respect that and respect the wide breadth of product.

In addition this new DML Tiger kit is fantastic. To have these options and available detail for such a cheap price is exciting to me. I don't mind paying more for qulaity but the thing I don't have time to do, is all the research to find aftermarket detail kits, what fits with what etc. I much prefer to buy one box of stuff and go to town.
