Forums - Modelling / Kits

The kits forum is for the discussion of model kits. Typically questions on availability or certain subjects and quality of existing kits are posted here. Short reviews are good here too.

I did have problems with the bars under the hull. If I were to build the kit again, I would, all at once and with a slow drying glue, fit the suspension mounts to the hull bottom edge, then fit the armored bars in between them. The tolerance is pretty tight, so being able to move the parts all together will help. I glued the bars in last, as the instructions recommended, and had to sand the beveled edges slightly so they would drop into place.

The engine air intake grills fit perfectly if you have the parts aligned correctly. The trick is that the way the parts fit is vague, and you can put them together incorrectly as easy as you can the right way. My first vent fit fine, but the second seemed tricky, until I found the two parts were not aligned the proper way as they had on my first vent.

Just go slow. I have found everything fits very well and precisely, but you have to test fit first to make sure of some of the alignments.

Oddly, with every single hatch and fitting being molded seperately, why did Dragon mold the radiator filler cap box shut on the engine deck. That would actually be one of the few caps that I would fit in the open position. Would be neat for a DAK setting with some water cans nearby.... just seems funny considering the great detail on other areas that are less practical.
