| Subject: | Trumpeter KV-1 "Small Turret" Engine Cover | |

In step 16 of the directions for Trumpter's "KV Small Turret Tank" (kit # 00356), one of the optional parts is a small round cover (part A 18) that is meant to be fitted on the rectangular engine access cover (part C2). Each of the other Trumpeter KV-1 kits has the same option.
What does this part represent, and is it typical of most KV-1 tanks? Does it have something to do with the air filter, which is apparently housed under the dome part of the engine access hatch (according to the cut-away on pages 28-29 of the New Vanguard "KV-1 & 2 Heavy Tanks" book)?
I cannot find any pictures of the top of the engine deck with the engine hatch closed in the few books I have on the KV-1, however most of the color and line drawing profiles in the New Vanguard book seem to show this part in place. |
