Forums - Modelling / Kits

The kits forum is for the discussion of model kits. Typically questions on availability or certain subjects and quality of existing kits are posted here. Short reviews are good here too.

I must be mellowing in my old age...

Dragon does invite scrutiny, both good and bad, by hyper-hyping the kits in the pipeline. But actually it's kinda cool to be treated like real consumers. For the longest time it was just wait and guess what might be headed our way.

My biggest issue with the whole IVE "Classic" (DML should put a sticker saying that on the first run boxes) debate was that no other manufacturers had been subjected to such overwhelming scrutiny. Nobody could have emerged unbruised from that mess.

I think Steve has a right to be miffed. He got a good kit, but it wasn't as good as it could have been, not as good as it will be. I bought the same kit, with the same problems, but I'm not nearly as torqued as Steve because... well....I'm Kip - it's subjective.

The folks who feel the same as Steve probably deserve to be thrown a bone by Dragon. Of course, if Dragon offers an upgrade package, I'll probably go for it too, simply because it's being offered and it may save me some time when i build the kit (current inventory puts that near 2012).

I really like Dragon and the way they approach the hobby. The are actively promoting their kits to us folks who would probably buy them anyway even if there wasn't all the bells and whistles. That tells me these guys are hobbyists and not bean counters.

But it is time for Dragon to cowboy up and offer an upgrade for the Classic IVE kit. If they can mail bunches of teeny-tiny (and very cool) brass barrel cleaners all over the world, they can let people mail in box ends or instruction sheets to get the upgrade. And that would be a stellar customer service gesture.

Hey Steve, I hope all the fixes on the Vorpanzer are correct and what isn't fixed for the Classic can be attacked with a little Evergreen and Tenax... and I hope Dragon tosses us a small bone.
