Forums - Modelling / Kits

The kits forum is for the discussion of model kits. Typically questions on availability or certain subjects and quality of existing kits are posted here. Short reviews are good here too.

Allow me to demonstrate my ignorance. I am not a Sherman expert by any means, but I have two M4A3 kits. One is an Italeri (with colliope) with the VVSS. The other is the OLD Academy/minicraft M4A3 with HVSS. The A/M tank is noticibly larger than the Italeri tank. I am just wondering if this is because it was a HVSS tank, or they just blew it on the scale (its listed as 1/35, but...). Over all its not only longer, but wider and taller (taking about just the hull). Seems odd. In real life didnt they just take standard a M4A3 hull and build it with the improved suspension? One reason I ask is I have a spare HVSS suspension kit I was thinking of installing on the old Italeri M4A1 tank for the fun of it, to try to make something the Isrealies would have used without having to buy a whole new kit (which would probably be the smart thing to do). Just trying to put to use some of the spares box stuff.
