It's a copy. The mold isn't the same as the original, and is definitely inferior. Actually the kits were done by Minicraft. The 251 halftrack was a copy of the old Nitto kit, and the Panzer IV with skirting was ripped off from Nichimo's kit. Oddly Minicraft did a copy of the Tamiya Panzer IV, but left the skirting off.
The Centurion, Sheridan, etc. were also bad copies.
Minicraft did sell some Nichimo kits in the early 80s in their own boxes, but the molds still said Nichimo on the bottom.
Minicraft made a copy of the Esci or Lindberg T-55 also, which was never relased. Their catalogue photo was of the Esci kit with a resin turret. |
