Reading what you wrote, Clement, I have the impression that the turret of DML Pz IV D kit is positioned slightly too far back on the superstructure, rather than that the turret is too long or the hull is too short, as some people here may be thinking.
I just started test fitting various parts of this new kit. So I cannot confidently say my impression is valid. But if I try to move the turret forward on the superstructure by 1mm or so, it appears that relative positioning of turret, engine room hatches, and the turret splash guard looks Ok, compared with the photos of the surviving ausf Ds in APG and Bovington you posted here.
