The Tamiya kit in an early model, and so would need zimmerit. You can make some sinple changes to the kit that will greatly improve it's looks.
- rebuild the small casemate for the driver. On the kit the casemate roof is horizontal, on the real vehicle this sloped forward. Remove the side and front armour plates, but leave on the roof, score where it attaches to the fighting compartment and bend down a little. Make new front and side plates (remember that the right side plate isn't dead vertical) from plastic card, aim for a slope of 1 mm from back to front.
This change also goes for the Italeri Stug IV, btw.
-replace the road wheels, with f.e. ones from the Tristar set. The Tamiya ones are too narrow.
- add zimmerit
Hope this helps.
