Forums - Modelling / Kits

The kits forum is for the discussion of model kits. Typically questions on availability or certain subjects and quality of existing kits are posted here. Short reviews are good here too.

Yeh! I hope Trumpeter can release this item. (I'm Argentine but) I haven't seen a TAM. I always lived far away from where those units are deployed. I have met a AMX13 commander who told me they are quite good and reliable machines. They sometimes compete against the TAMs on shooting exercises. Obviously, an AMX13 has little chance to beat the more modern TAM, so the crew's experience determines the winner. This commander told me that it was hard to beat them, because the TAM has stabilization, while they rely on their calculations and manual adjustments.
One development of the TAM has a rocket launcher on top of it, like the Sherman Calliope, although it was never produced, and only a prototype was built. Another thing is an Personell Armored Carrier, with a mortar incorporated, and an SPG. All of them could be done after the basic kit.
I personally know the AML Panhard (a tiny, cramped, skinny vehicle, with rudimentary and basic equipment, and a 90mm gun) I lived close to the Recon regiment (do not ask me about the unit, I forgot its designation) and I had the rare opportunity to climb on top of the AMX13, also with a 90mm gun. It is ok, and their crews make sure they run in optimal conditions, despite their age.

cheers...

Juan
