| In the 1970's, Tamiya used to fudge the dimensions and shapes of their subjects so their standard electric motor and battery pack would fit inside. Tamiya's SU-85 kit is about 1/33rd scale and the proportions of the engine deck are off (the ventilation screens are way too big), and the angles of the engine deck sides are too shallow. One solution, though imperfect, is to saw the fighting compartment off the Tamiya upper hull and mate it to the rear engine section of the Dragon T-34 hull. Drogon's chassi si correctly dimensioned, and the tracks are individual link styrene, which look much better than vinyl. Aber and Eduard both offer photoetch detail sets (including smaller sets with just the engine deck screens if you don't want to spend weeks on brass bits). |
