The kits forum is for the discussion of model kits. Typically questions on availability or certain subjects and quality of existing kits are posted here. Short reviews are good here too. |

Interior is simplified, and Academy used an early vehicle for reference, so late vehicles are less accurate, because the Tiger's interior layout changed during the production run. Turret shell is incorrect in shape (it's symmetrical when it should bulge out a bit on the left side), and the cupola is too far back and too close to centerline. Machine gun mount is also too high on the glacis plate.
Aftermarket resin turrets are available to fix the Academy versions, though I believe most builders would opt for the Dragon kits. They don't have all the interior parts, but they have quite a bit, the exterior detail is better all round, and the turrets are more accurate. Metal barrels and brass photoetch parts are included.
Academy and Dragon both depict the tracks as having solid guide teeth. Best aftermarket tracks are those from AFV Club. They have the correct, hollow guide teeth. They're workable but have just two parts per link vs. five on Model Kasten. And they come in much cheaper than Friul. |
