Tony,
Kurt Laughlin is probably the best man to answer this but I 'll have a bash.
The shells don't really have a spent and un-spent appearance. It's a two part load with the projectile shoved up the barrel first and bagged propellant going up after. Apologies if i've misinterpretted your question there, but it sounds like you might have been looking for empty shell cases like you'd get with a QF type weapon, which the Long Tom 'aint!
The next question is, are you after a WWII Long Tom or 1950's+ weapon? If it's the latter you're in luck, the AFV Club ammo set (http://www.track-link.net/reviews/k594 http://www.track-link.net/reviews/k349) fits the bill.
If it's WWII that you're interested in it's a bit more complicated. For the ammo load here http://www.track-link.net/gallery/4023_7 I've used AFV Club projectiles modified by replacing the 'c' shaped carrying ring with an 'o' shaped version. For fused and ready to fire rounds it's more complicated still, as the AFV Club drive bands are of a later type (see Cookie's review). The charge cannisters are from TMD and can be found here http://www.tigermodels.com/storepro5/agora.cgi?cart_id=73.7930*Wa1S45&next=30&exact_match=on&product=Tigermodels&user4=American. There's no option with the stencilling but to make your own. I did look in to getting some decals made once upon a time, reminds I'll have to pursue that again.
