Here's the list of British Designations:

M4 = Sherman I
M4A1 = Sherman II
M4A2 = Sherman III
M4A3 = Sherman IV (I don't believe the British used this model)
M4A4 = Sherman V
M4A5 = Canadian Ram (place holder only)
M4A6 = Not put into production. Training vehicles only

Suffixes added to primary designations

A = 76mm, M1 series gun
B = 105 howitzer
C = 17 pounder

Hybrid = Brtish terminology for Composite Hull M4

For example:

Sherman IC Hybrid = M4 Sherman with a composite hull and 17 pounder gun.
