Forums - Modelling / Kits

The kits forum is for the discussion of model kits. Typically questions on availability or certain subjects and quality of existing kits are posted here. Short reviews are good here too.

It was mostly a very well enginered kit with just a few exceptions in regards to buildability. For me personally the issues I had were the placement of parts C49 the ?tool? box on the far side wall from the drivers station, the placement of part A5 on the inside front plate.and the fit of the armored ammo bins on the rear deck that just did not quite fit without a little bit of triming. also the very back of the fighting compartment there is no firewall/bulkhead etc, just an open hole below part B53 the ?radiator? firewall, which in itself for me was somewhat questionable as to how it fit to part A10 the engine side firewall. On my kit this part would either fit to the hull wall or the engine firewall, but not to both. I had to use a small shim to close a sizeable gap there. Also I do not know if it is this way on the real vehicle, but on my kit I see no way the crew could open the largest ammo bin on the engine deck due to the placement of the gun travel lock. In my opinion these are really small problems that can be fairly easily overcome with just a little modeling skill, and the first two issues are mostly a moot point for most due to the fact that they are buried fairly deep in the hull and will not be seen by any but the most persistent viewers; but they are there. As for the missing fuel cap, I reason that this area is an excellent place to put a box/bag etc to cover the missing piece, unless you can scratch one up.Having said all this I would still highly recommend this kit to anyone, even beginning modellers (just with the recommendation they go slowly to make sure they don't miss something in the VERY busy sometimes confusing(as to when certain constructions should be done)instructions))
