Forums - Modelling / Kits

The kits forum is for the discussion of model kits. Typically questions on availability or certain subjects and quality of existing kits are posted here. Short reviews are good here too.

It really depends on what you term as "late". The first 1,549 Pz III Ausf J's had the 5cm KwK L/42 gun and was designated SdKfz 141. From Dec 1941, starting from chassis number 72001, they were up-gunned to a 5 cm KwK L/60 gun and re-named SdKfz 141/1. They were called the Mark III Specials by the British in Africa.

As the war wore on, more and more repairs were carried out on damaged vehicles with available parts and it is not unusual to see tanks with a mix of parts. For example some late production III J's had early Ausf G idlers/sprockets.
