Hi Glenn
The other guys are correct the F/8 did have these different brake access hatches but not for long. I believe production of the F/8 started around September 1942 but by October 1942 the brake access hatches had reverted back to the design seen on the Ausf F and the later Ausf G with the split hatches.
This makes the Dragon kit a bit of an odd ball because the , bolted additional frontal armour supplied in the kit was not fitted to the F/8 until October or November 1942 when the hatches had reverted back to the split type. The earlier F/8's had a very different looking additional frontal armour which was welded on.
I seem to recall that Achtung Panzer No5 has some shots of an F/8 at Kubinka which has the single piece hatches you mention. This vehicle has the welded additional armour.
I, myself wanted to model the later vehicle with the bolted armour so I carfully removed the hatch section from the Dragon kit and replaced it with the hatch section left over from the Dragon Panzer III Ausg G.
Hope this helps
