I found the VP update set not too bad, but a bit of a loose fit in the DML Panther A hull which I was using, but nothing that a bit of plastic card wouldn't fix. When yousay you're planning to build a Bergepanther G, does that mean you're building it on an A hull or a G hull? Bergepanther Gs were built on both - the ones built on the G hull, I believe, were factory purpose built as Bergepanthers, the A hulls were factory conversions from gun tanks.
As for what bits were used - I found the driver/co driver area a bit light on for detail and a lot of mine was scatchbuilt, also the winch controls. You're also going to need a good supply of lead wire or something similar, as there's a LOT of piping/wiring visible.
I used Tiger Model Designs gear for the crane, but haven't got around to putting it together yet - finishing off a Marder III got in the way.
