Forums - Modelling / Kits

The kits forum is for the discussion of model kits. Typically questions on availability or certain subjects and quality of existing kits are posted here. Short reviews are good here too.

Has anyone successfully put one of these together just by using the instructions and "without" major surgery?

I started the 251/1 a few years ago and it is still sitting in the box because the rear hull angles would not line up and it was hopeless trying to get the upper hull on as it was at least a millimeter or 2 short. I thought at the time, maybe it was just me being sloppy.

I picked up the Drilling recently and have been having a go at it lately. Disregarding the assembly notes, I have the rear hull angles put together much better and am at the point where I'd like to add the upper hull. However, it still appears to be too short. (by the way, I have three of these kits now and I cannot tell any difference in the upper hull parts with regards to length). Anyone have any pointers on this kit? I've been exceedingly careful but it appears that the front end of my kit will require some "persuasion" to get close to fitting. I'm frustrated.

Also, dry fitting has revealed the side panniers will be a tricky fit also.

Any advice from someone who's actually built one of these things would be appreciated!
Steve
