Having built both, IMHO the Academy kit is much easier to construct, with better quality moldings. The Italeri kit's detail may be a little finer, but the quality of the molding is more rough and (at least in my issue) suffered from some sinkmarks and the like. Plus the Academy kit comes with all sorts of extras too, as well as figures...
