I should mention that the Dragon kit in question is the late G model, nearly indistinguishable externally from an early H (the final drive was changed, and externally, the drive sprocket on the H has hollow spokes).
Dragon's Panzer IV Ausf. J model is a final production model, (after November, 1944), and was a Dragon original tooling, but had an incorrectly contoured fender line based on a bad museum reconstruction. When Shanghai Dragon reissued the kit, they took the opportunity to substitute the more accurate Gunze Sangyo chassis and fenders. Still, the upper hull and turret's detailing is very basic, as it was one of Dragon's first efforts. The Tamiya J is an earlier version, suitable for Normandy, and has better detail and accuracy.
The Dragon kits both include individual link track (not Magic Track, though). The Tamiya kits have glueable, soft plastic band track. |
