Forums - Modelling / Kits

The kits forum is for the discussion of model kits. Typically questions on availability or certain subjects and quality of existing kits are posted here. Short reviews are good here too.

Hey Paul,

There's three I know of and have purchased, here I go on a mini review.

1. Czech Masters kit # HB 072. Made for Panzer IIIN but can be adapted. Comes with a IIIN mantlet in resin with most of the gun part of the mold. Resin machine gun. The last 7mm of the gun barrel is turned aluminum without rifling, deep bore drilling. No screw detail on collar. Really nice kit.

2: The Armory by Gauntlett kit # AG113. Made for Stug III Athrough E. The gun is a resin replacement with mantlet in one piece. Superb molding, comes with seperate resin barrel cap. No rifling, shallow bore will need drilling if used without cap. No screw detail on gun tube collar.

3: Jordi Rubio kit # TG-29. Turned aluminum barrel only. It comes with barrel cap turned in place, so if you want an open gun tube be ready for drilling and filing down the cap. No screw detail present on collar. I was somewhat disappointed when this one arrived.

Last option is to grab a spare from the newer Dragon Panzer IV's that come with side molded plastic barrels with rifling, and also include a turned aluminum barrel without rifling. I'll be using the plastic on my 4's to get the rifling detail, so the turned will go in the spares box. If you need one, send me an email, I have 5 of them so far.

Model on,

Clair
