| Subject: | Panther in 1/25 scale, Tamiya or MRC/Academy | |

Hello everyone,
Here's an obscure question that I hope someone can answer. Does any of MRC/Academy's 1/25 Panthers & Jagdpanthers have link and length tracks similar to those of Tamiya's?
I am including an excerpt from an e-mail I sent to mrcsupport@modelrectifier.com.
"...wanted to ask if there is any difference in the tracks included with each kit. Specifically, the kits with the item no: 1329, 1330, 1338 & 1339 look to have, in your site's pictures at least, the individual link and length type tracks, similar to those of the original 1/25 Tamiya Panther.
Whereas, those with the item no: 1341, 1342, 13018 & 13019 seem to have the rubberband-type tracks.
In addition, Panthers 1329 and 1338 look different, with 1338 looking as if it has Zimmerit applied to it, and 1329 looking like Tamiya's original release. The same applies to Jagdpanthers 1330 and 1339, wherein the latter also has a simulated Zimmerit coating.
Can you please either confirm or refute the differences mentioned regarding the tracks, and Zimmerit?"
In addition, I read Michael Benolkin's excellent Cybermodeler Online review of the Academy 1/25 Panther (motorized), kit no.1341, but I am a little confused about his description of the tracks being "...a bionic version of the standard rubber band track, but unlike their Tamiya counterparts, these come in sections, feature some beautiful detail and are pinned together over the road wheels using steel pins.", and although I can truly sympathize with his kid or cat encounter reference, I hope that someone can explain where or how these steel pins secure the tracks.
I would really appreciate any info anyone could share.
Thanking you in advance.
Best regards,
Allan |
