Thank you both for your input. I did arrive at a similar conclusion based on luck (an eBay listing [170033767219] for what looks to be an early original Academy Jagdpanther #1330) and assumptions (which i thought were kind of iffy).
Your replies pretty much laid to rest any doubts that I did have. It's nice to hear from folks who've actually had their mitts on the darned things.
Frank, if you're still in the market for another 1/25 Panther/Jagdpanther for old-times' sake, despite the inaccuracies, just go to http://www.modelrectifier.com/index.asp.
Choose plastic models, then Armor & Accessories, then scale.
Skip, thanks for the Jentz & Doyles reference. That was funny. Me, I just want to have a slightly bigger tank with working running gear to go brrrooooommm, brrrrooooooommmm, b-kow on the carpet. I may just opt for one of the remote versions to chase my cat, too.
BTW, if you guys are interested, Tamiya is re-releasing the 1/25 Tiger I and the British Centurion Mk.III (both with interiors) this month. Go to http://www.hlj.com/index.html and use their Advanced Search option. I've placed my orders already.
