Allan,
I built this kit about 10 years ago as a commission, & used Humbrol Liquid Poly cement throughout with no ill-effects. If you can't get hold of this then I would probably go for Tamiya Super-Thin or Plastruct Bondene (I've recently experimented with this on a DML kit, & it will stick anything!).
