Yes, my kit was in that strange-coloured plastic. Tamiya Super Thin, like other plastic adhesives, does tend to melt plastic slightly to set up a weld. This isn't a major problem if you use it sparingly; it also takes about 15-20 minutes to set up fully, which is an advantage for fitting parts correctly. The Plastruct Bondene sets up in about 10 seconds, melts plastic to form a rock-solid bond & also fills seams well if you secure the parts together with tape or clamps, thereby eliminating to a large extent the need for filler. Both types of adhesive should be available in hobby shops in the USA/Canada (I've recently restocked my supply from a hobby shop in Orlando, Florida, plus brought some back to the UK for friends).
