Forums - Modelling / Kits

The kits forum is for the discussion of model kits. Typically questions on availability or certain subjects and quality of existing kits are posted here. Short reviews are good here too.

Well it depends on what you want and what you are willing to accept. If all you want is to build a tank to take a break from airplanes, just to build to please yourself, and when you are done just put it on your shelf .It is probably a good deal. If you want to build to please others and maybe enter it in a contest with a chance of winning something, this is probably not the best choice.

The most obvious problem with the kit is the barrel. But you might be able to ask here on this site if anyone who has replaced the kit barrel from a Tamiya or DML M-1 with an aftermarket metal barrel if they could give you the unused plastic one from thier kit to replace yours.Or of course if you do get the kit and the barrel looks to bad to you to get your own turned metal barrel yourself if you don't mind the added cost, but that kind of kills the idea of getting the kit at only $10

As far as the turret dimensions; If you can cover it with boxes, bags, packs, etc you can hide these defects, which probably would not be that obvious to most people(unless you invite some hardcore armor modellers to come look at what you have done with the kit)

If you get this kit and build it with possibly a replaced barrel and put it on your shelf; more than likely when you look at it it will look like an Abrams to you, and in the end that is all that should really matter. That you enjoy building it, and you like the way it looks on your shelf.
