When I look at the hull of this kit and compare it to Sherman hulls in The Modeler's Guide to the Sherman, it appears that this should be built as an M4A1 big hatch with the cast-in armor plates, since it lacks the oil filter cap on the rearmost engine deck panel, but one needs to add the cast-in armor.
Is this correct?
Is the turret correct for the cast-in armor version?
Where did this particular variant see action? I don't recall seeing it in any of the usual references.
