Hi-
To build a nice PzIV J
1) MK SK27 late model/lightweight tracks-or MK SK17 late tracks with ice cleats or Fruil equal
2) Clipper Model PzIV Late set (for Tamiya Kit) includes: late pivot hatch, late tow bracket and late mufflers.
opt-or use mufflers from Tamiyas newer Modelwagon, scatch build your hatch and tow bracket and mufflers out of drinking straw (almost exact diameter)
3) Tristar Pz IV wheel set-includes very late upper return wheels and mounts (so when you shave Tamiyas from 4 to 3 this helps)
4) Eduard turret shurtzen-fits better than Aber's
5) Eduard Thoma Shields or Aber Thoma Shields. Eduards include the top grenade screens-Abers is a sepearte set. Abers look a little better but are harder to make and install-solder Abers for best result
6) Add gas detection panel on main gun recuperator
7) Add reenforced/uparmored fan cover-scratch-with cutout for close def. weapon
8) Most final late J's seem to have the welded ider wheel-not cast-but varies
9) very late j's have lifting rings (welded)on front of hull by drivers visor and hull MG
10) very late/final J's have no flip-up vision port flap by the monocular sight in the front of the turret-fill in
11) muzzle break-varies-round is comon for late J's but I have a photo of a late J with an earlier break-I think all styles were used
12) Scratch hull extensions
Or-by the time you do all this and buy all the stuff DML will come out with a new tool Late J-this would be a killer kit for DML to do
I think thats about it. Rob B |
