| Subject: | Why now, and why Lion Roar? | |

Well, I am bemused by this sudden bashing on Lion Roar's new product. Lion Roar is certainly NOT the first PE manufacturer to sell this sort of "replace them all!" PE sets. Aber, Voyager, Royal Model, etc do have huge and expensive PE sets to replace entire hull and/or turret of tanks and armoured cars.
There is no point in "complaining" that this is overkill. It is an "optional" product, which you yourself decide to buy or not. It is not the base kit, and won't be the only PE sets for the M2/M2A1 halftrack. I am sure other PE manufacturers will announce their versions soon.
If you don't like it, don't buy it. Nobody is forcing you to buy and use it in you model. This way, the manufacture will know what consumers really want...
I also wonder that it is a mute point if these PE manufactures really try to provide "accurate" parts and help us detailing our models. I may be rather cynical. But, nowadays I tend to think many third party products are designed so that they can say "we have more parts than our competitors!" Correct details and accuracy may not be the manufacturers' first priority, which we modellers want to believe they are. Haven't you seen PE parts are too thin for the intended details? Haven't you seen some original plastic parts which are incorrect are to be placed by PE parts, only to find that the PE parts have exactly the same shape as the plastic parts, thus, they are inaccurate too...
I buy and use PE sets. But, I often discard quite a few parts in a PE set, because they are inaccurate, or PE parts do not add any details, enhance accuracy and/or realistic apparence of my model.
