Forums - Modelling / Kits

The kits forum is for the discussion of model kits. Typically questions on availability or certain subjects and quality of existing kits are posted here. Short reviews are good here too.

Hello Christopher,

Yes, the street section is wonderful.
It comes complete with sidewalk, a manhole plus a drainage gutter.
Both in precolored steel, believe it or not.

The material is unusually rock hard resin and I bought it somewhere in Switzerland well over 15 years ago.
It was one section of a rather large range of street and pavement sections originally intended for Gauge 'O' model railrods.
I guess it was produced by some unknown cottage industry firm that has gone out of business many years ago.

Am still tearing the odd hair out for not having bought more at the same time; the shop has long since gone and I've never found anything of this range anywhere at a later date.
All I can remember is that it came in a plain plastic ziploc bag without any brand name or anything else on it, so its origin remains a sad mystery.

I have recently given it a place of honour on a dio base which is still under construction at the moment.
By the way, the dio base is made of an Ikea picture frame from the 'Ram'series of pinewood. Ridiculously cheap and since they come with a sheet of plexiglass for a front they are ideal to use for dio bases.
The plexiglass simply forms the bottom so it is water-based dio ground material proof, too.

The wood can be kept 'as is' or can be painted, or stained, in any color.
The frames are available in at least six or seven different sizes ranging from 'two figure vignette' to 'two Tigers on one dio' plus plenty inbetween.

Happy Modelling
Jerry
