Forums - Modelling / Kits

The kits forum is for the discussion of model kits. Typically questions on availability or certain subjects and quality of existing kits are posted here. Short reviews are good here too.

This is NOT a paid political endorsement!

This is not meant to be a full blown review, just a few comments about some newer Accurate Armour kits: The Pinzgauer Medium Utility Truck and the land Rover SAS 110 DPV. I am currently building these new kits and I would like to say that the engineering is darn near perfect. These kits are a dream to assemble and they are light years ahead of their early Land Rover kits. If you ever were considering trying out resin and wanted to build unique and very cool vehicles these two are perfect. I would even say that the Pinzgauer might be the the best fitting resin kit I have ever assembled... pretty close to good quality styrene kits as far as build goes. There are still the usual casting blocks, sandind PE and clear plastic to consider; but gone is the finnicky white metal and as far as the Rover goes you will find a pre-assembled resin frame in the box- Praise the lord of AFV Model Building! Anyhow Derek and the guys at AA have made a quantum leap in construction design and I just wanted to blow their horn for them... great job.

Thanks,

Mike
