Hello Martin,
Here's my two Eurocents worth of input on your question.
Though I cannot guarantee the 100% correctness of the 1:35 scale plans in the otherwise excellent book "Achtung Panzer Vol 7,PzKw I/PzKw II series and variants" the barrel length of the Tasca Luchs measures out to be about 2 mm longer than the drawings in this book.
For the rest there are hull detail differences anyhow between the preserved Luchs' at Bovington and the one in Saumur so these very probably existed during their operational use in WW-2.
I have built two of the Tasca Luchs kits and they certainly were a joy to build.
All parts fit together like a dream.
The only minor criticism I can think of is the total lack of interior detail inside the turret.
If you model your Luchs with the top hatches and the big hatch at the rear of the turret open you are staring into a rather nasty empty space.
Eduard to the rescue; they offer a very nice upgrade set for this kit under cat.no. 35637. This p/e set contains a lot of turret interior like visor blocks, mapcase, several switchboxes, straps for gasmask canisters, etc.
Also in the set are three very well detailed mesh covers for the engine.
The original Tasca kit only offers the two side mesh grills in p/e but Eduard's set also has the mesh for the rear one.
Another careful remark; I have seen a few Luchs kits with the driver's and radio operator hatches open the wrong way round ie opening upwards and out.
The two forward hatches, however, actually opened inwards and down.
Which must have been pretty complicated for the two guys in front I guess...
Finally, there is a review of the Luchs on Terry Ashley's site PMMS dated 25 April 2003, when the kit was just on the market.
H.T.H. and Happy Modelling
