Forums - Modelling / Kits

The kits forum is for the discussion of model kits. Typically questions on availability or certain subjects and quality of existing kits are posted here. Short reviews are good here too.

This particular Marder carried the Fu.2 (or Fu.5) which consisted of a receiver and a transmitter. These are in the Tristar kit (which you have) in the correct location, on top of the drive shaft. There is also a smaller intercom box that in the Marder. This was also fitted above the drive shaft. This is described in Panzer Tracts 7-2.

Photographs I've seen of the interior support this. The area on the starboard inner side of the gun shield had a stowage box in the place Mike has mounted his radio... so I don't think it goes there (sorry Mike).

Having said that however, there's an blurry, yet interesting photo, of one vehicle that shows what appears to be the radio mounting racks in place of the starboard side shell rack... this could be a field modification or I'm misinterpreting the photograph.

I'm pretty sure there was no command version of the Marder, at least the type with 2 radio sets and the star aerial. There could have been ones with the Fu.5, which was still just a transmitter and receiver mounted on the drive shaft.

For the Tristar kit you will have to add the wiring and headphones.

Paul.
