All my sources say the radio is just were it's supposed to be. Mounted on the upper hull right side. The ammo storage inside the hull will get in the way of anyone trying to work the radio's. I noticed that Voyager has released brass sets so that you can install the radio in this location. I would think that the radio was at one time mounted inside the hull... when the 38(t) was a tank and not a SPG. When all else fails I use a soldier's common sense. Think were it would be more useful in a combat situation, inside the hull were everything is in the way or were the CO of the gun can get and receive orders without causing a disruption to his fighting capability. What you might think is right in most cases will be right. The other thought process would also say look at all the other German open top SPG's. Do they almost all have the radio in the upper hull and on the right side??
My 2 cents,
Mike |
