Fellow track-heads.
Pouring over some M4A1 pictures on the net (really really slow night at work =)) it appears that there were at least 2 distinct cast upper hulls fitted to the M4A1. I have found several picures of a very smooth contour upper hull.

As it appears to me, the side hull contours appear more smooth and better representing that Tasca M4A1 release without the slight upper raised section a the front periscope / hatch level.
The obsession starts again.
