Forums - Modelling / Kits

The kits forum is for the discussion of model kits. Typically questions on availability or certain subjects and quality of existing kits are posted here. Short reviews are good here too.

Its nice that someone made the effort to get you a model for Christmas. Unfortunately the truth on the Trump kit is its not good.First, some of the T-54/type 59/type69 kits they did are made of an ABS type plastic that resists regular model glue. This varies from kit to kit, and may even have changed over time to where all of them are now regular plastic. However, regardless of material, they are all farly innaccurate and toylike. These are from Trumps early days, and it shows. Though they did get some details right and better detailed than the ESCI T-54/T-55 kits, thats not saying much. If I were you, and you really must build it, just do it OOB and move on.Putting extra time and effort, or money, into these kits would be a shame. Also, about the only part I have ever found that I would consider using on a Tamiya T-55 is the Chinese laser range finder from the Type 69 kits. I did this with my T-69 conversion with the Tamiya T-55. If you want to do a good Israeli Tiran 5, get the Blast models conversion and use it on the Tamiya kit. The Trump "Ti-67" parts aren't real accurate and may not even fit well on the Tamiya kit.
