Forums - Modelling / Kits

The kits forum is for the discussion of model kits. Typically questions on availability or certain subjects and quality of existing kits are posted here. Short reviews are good here too.

These Panzerjagerwagens were used at the front and the end of the late BP 42/44 armoured trains instead of the former "Abstosswagen", an ordinary flat bed car with two axles. So Vol. 1 is the LEADING car with HEADLIGHTS, track clearer, usual Reichsbahn buffers, coupling and break hoses infront and a special armour-plated center buffer/coupling device at the rear side. This had to be because the next car was a Panzer 38(t) carrier with a fixed ramp showing towards the first car. All other cars and the engine had normal buffers etc.

In fact these trains had a symmetrical layout with the loco inmidst, Vol. 2 is the TRAILING car and identical to Vol. 1 exept for the TAILLIGHTS. There are lots of contemporary photographs of these trains online and they are quite a good source for further detailing, camouflage patterns, boxes for tools or spares behind the turret etc.

By the way, does anybody know what Trumpeter has in mind with releasing these two kits? Do they plan to issue a complete Wehrmacht armoured train and start at both ends? Even their BR 52 would fit in the middle, although the BR 57 was the usual engine... think about it!

Regards
Gerd
