The kits forum is for the discussion of model kits. Typically questions on availability or certain subjects and quality of existing kits are posted here. Short reviews are good here too. |

The White M3 Scout Car is the Italeri kit pressed out by Zvezda. I believe the Zvezda one includes a poor quality canvas roof and inferior decals. Get the Italeri one if you can, if not the Zvezda one is the same kit but in my opinion has softer styrene. As indicated in the gallery here on TL the kit can be built and still look quite amazing. The kit dates back to the mid seventies when Japanese company Peerless/Max brought it out. The molds were then sold to Tomy, then finally to Italeri who has a distribution agreement with Zvezda.
Zvezda's quality varies according to the origin of the molds, generally they are so-so but can be updated with detailing and PE. Their SdKfz 251/B kit is quite unique and is also available as a command version from Revell. I wouldn't bother with any of their Russian stuff as Tamiya, Dragon, etc, produce better ones. Whatever you do DON'T buy the T-60 tank, it's probably the worst kit ever produced.
That being said, I actually like some Zvezda kits for their uniqueness, their Russian trucks are quite good(also available as "Italeri" but made by Zvezda). Basically you take your chances - call them the Italeri of Russia! :} |
