Hi Guys-
I am pretty sure that the 20mm is inside an armoured sleeve causing it to appear to be a very thick 20mm. This armoured sleeve would be vehicle colour although, I'm sure the colour would change with repeated heating and cooling from the gun's firing. My main point being that, as you look at the Panzer II, you're not seeing the actual 20mm, you're looking at the sleeve/tube the 20mm passes through.
Forgive if I am stating something everyone has just assumed we all know, I read all the posts before posting this and did not see any mention of the armoured sleeve before I posted the above.
